The scripts also provide an opportunity for group interaction and student cooperation. Stories on Stage is an amazing book. This book contains many scripts that will make you laugh. After reading this book, I wondered how hard it was for all of these authors to write these amazing stories. Reader's Theater is one of my favorite things to do.4/5. Readers Theater may be performed with many kinds of literature: picture books, short stories, parts of novels, poetry, folk tales, works of non-fiction, newspaper or magazine articles. Not all literature, however, makes a good Readers Theater script. Reader's theater is a strategy for developing reading fluency. It involves children in oral reading through reading parts in scripts. In using this strategy, students do not need to memorize their part; they need only to reread it several times, thus developing their fluency skills. The best reader's theater scripts include lots of dialogue. Readers Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a "script" and reading parts are divided among the readers. No memorization, costumes, blocking, or special lighting is needed. Presentations can easily be done in a k-3 classroom. Scripts are held by the readers. Lines are not memorized. Reader's Theater is when students are given the opportunity to perform a script from a grade-level book in front of the class. Reader's Theater gives students the chance to practice reading aloud, and practice reading with fluency and expression.
